“Sleep tight, don’t let the Bedbugs Bite!”

It’s an old saying we use to tuck our kids in at night.  But why do we keep this old saying alive?  Do we really want our kids to worry about bedbugs?  My guess is that the phrase takes us back to our own childhood.  When whatever we feared, (probably something much worse than a bedbug) was somehow disguised by a kiss on the cheek and that old-time rhyme.
